The add and weigh tare function allows the weight of the container to be zeroed out before adding food, and also allows for multiple ingredients to be weighed separately in the same container. To conserve battery life, the scale has an auto shut off feature but also can be turned off manually by a press of a button. Two AAA batteries are included for convenience.
